Summer Camp

The residential summer camp is the highlight of the yearly calendar for many of the young people and staff at the Archway Project. Each year the project camps out for three weeks at 'Tommy's Farm' in Wales. The farm is over a thousand acres of hills, valleys, streams and marsh land which is an off-road riders paradise. During these three weeks we will have three different groups of young people who will spend four days at a time on the camp site. This provides the opportunity for young people to camp out, ride off-road and share an exciting experience they will never forget.

The camp site is literally taken over by the Archway group and its team of volunteers and young people. Our young people get the chance to see parts of the countryside that are very much off the beaten track, they also have the chance to ride their bikes from morning till night if they so wish (and most of them do).

This is Tommy and Liz who own the farm in Wales. They are good enough to let us have the run of the place once a year and always look forward seeing our young people set up camp. Nuff respect to Tommy and Liz for their hospitality !!!

During their stay on 'Tommy's Farm' the young people get to develop the following skills:

Team building and social skills;
Improved riding skills and abilities;
Better understanding of how bikes work and how to maintain them;
Cooking and looking after the needs of others in the group;
Meet up with old friends, make new ones and interact with others in a positive manner.
